5 Star tuner

Just wanted to share my feelings about the 5 star tuner.

A little info about the truck. I have an 04 with 128,000 miles on it. No cat, Y pipe, K&N, and magnaflow muffler.

I ordered the 5.4 tuner with the 3, 87 octane tunes. Tow, performance, and economy, along with Y Pipe combo. The package arrived 6 days later. Fast shipping on the item and everything was packaged great.

Install was easy, and if you follow directions you can have your truck tuned in less than an hour.

Now about the actual performance. The truck just feels right! It shifts when it should shift, and pulls how it should pull. I have only tried the performance tune so far, but the motor and tranny just seem to hook up better. Nice crisp up shifts, and no lag in the motor at all.

If you are on the fence about this, hop on over to the other side with those of us who have taken the plunge and purchased the tuner.

I am in no way associated with Mike or 5 star, just a happy customer who would recommend his tuner.

Thanks Mike.

I don't know why I waited so long to get this tuner.

Shaneinga,

Do yourself a favor and get the 93 octane performance as well, it doesn't cost much. When I got my tune I got the 87 performance and tow tunes, as well as the 93 performance and it is waaaaaaayyyyyyyy better. The most noticeable difference I can see is the shifts are firmer and the truck seems to pull harder too. Comparing the tunes too each other I would say that the 93 performance also gets the best fuel milage out of the three I got. I was a little dissapointed in the tow tune getting only 9mpg, but around 11mpg with the performance tunes. I would probably get better milage if I did not gun it everywhere, and I am running 4.56 gears w/35" tires which puts my rpms pretty high at highway speeds.

93 octane huh. The pump already turns off early before she is all the way full now. LoL. How much are paying to fill that bad boy up with the 93 octane. I know on regular grade I am a little over a 100 deer to fill it up as is.

I thought a lot about it, but decided against it. I might just try it though. Get the 93 octane performance, 87 octane performance, and 87 octane tow.

I honestly don't see myself using the 87 octane economy much anyway.

Cheers

Hey Shane, I am with you. I just ordered from Mike@5Star and am thoroughly impressed! I told Mike I am astounded at the difference it made in my truck. I tried the 87 Tow/Performance tune and it is a completely different truck! The throttle response is amazing, no more sluggish response to the pedal, and she pulls hard all the way through the RPMs. Mike has awakened the beast in my V10!!!

1 to 2 max is more typical with a good driver.

I'm at 17 MPG right now in a freeway, highway and city mix. No long idling. Temperatures from 50 to 70.

I was at 17.40 MPG for the first 17663 miles.

Since installing the Gryphon CTS, I've averaged 18.21 (19045 miles).

Since your current MPG is very good, I would be surprised if you gained more than .5 MPG.
