Tail light, Parking light, Dash light Problems

My Tail light, Parking & Dash lights are not working right using the headlight switch. My headlights, brake & turn signals do work. I belive that the brake & turn signales work because they do not go through the headlight switch. Let me give brief history of this problem " Headlights work when pulling **** all the way out" running lights--(corner & tail lights & dash out)--all Inst.gauges work, but not Inst. lights. Parking lights do not work at all when pulling **** out to it's on position. If I pull **** out all the way then push in a little bit about half way between Parking & headlight position, I get everything working. I did replace headlight switch thinking my old one was bad but, the same thing is going on with the new one. I did do a search and did not find this issue. Is this a problem anyone has had, Or what should I look for or do at this point to solve this issue. Thanks

That sounds like a bad headlight switch to me. Is the one you replaced it with a brand new or new used one? I guess it could be defective.

test the new switch with a meter .. if it passes, test the circuit by jumping from the switch connector to ground ..

the fact that they work 'sometimes' leads me to think the switch is bad, or is not getting good ground ..

Yes it is a new switch. I haven't had a bad new part in many moons, But it does happen. I thought the same as all of you (bad switch). I did get some troubleshooting help from the electrical forum with testing the headlight switch plug. The tan/white wire voltage is said to be a possible cause of these symptoms. Test results did show that wire did not have any volts. I will get another new switch if I get the tan/white wire traced to where it will deliver 12 volts and if the problem is still not solved. I am trying to get a "Good" wire diagram. Chilton book IMO is not much help with this. All help is appreciated & welcome. 92

I agree the Chiltons and Haynes books are a good resource, but they lack quite a bit of info.
