Coolant Flow

Which direction does the coolant flow through the heater core? Is it from the engine to the core then out to the water pump? I am asking because I am putting a hot water valve in to improve A/C and have vents when the heater is not on, and was trying to figure out which hose to put it on.

If you turn the heat on high there will be a noticeable difference in temp of the heater hoses, the hotter one is the inlet to the core

Water comes from the intake manifold and returns to the pump, but it shouldn't really matter.
Either way you create a dead head condition.

Thanks guys, I was unsure if it mattered or not where it was placed. I also did not even think to feel the hoses - I was thinking too far ahead of myself.

So, I just put in the valve and set it up to shut off the flow in max AC. I noticed a difference even with the AC discharged. It went in pretty quick.

This now led me to another project. I had taken off the heater hose and a bunch of rust came out. I have to flush it soon.
