Hey guys, I recently swapped a 6 inch lift with 37"s on my truck and I think I made a mistake........ It rides like crap, stops like crap and needs gears. First can u regear at home or is that better left to a shop, was quoted 1000 an axle, seems high. Second could new shocks help the ride or is it just a spring rate issue? I tow a 33 camper in the summer and dont know if i should put the money in the lift(regear) or go to a 4" and 35"s, what do u guys think???
not sure how far you pull the camper but with a 33 foot camper i would keep E rated tires on it.. other wise she will sway and handle like crap..the brakes wont be any better ether...
How many miles are on your lift? Who makes the lift? If you've never done a regear with someone else who knows what they're doing, I wouldn't do it. My stepfather's an experienced ex-mechanic and wouldn't touch a regear. Why would you lift your truck and install 37's when you tow a trailer during the summer?

LOL, yeah, i was thinking the same thing....
I know a guy who does, and it sucks ****.
The back of the truck is all over the place, and despite almost 500hp of power, it has no power till about 60km/h.
I like the look of big wheels, but thinking of grabbing those 18.5" rims and some big all terrain highway tires. This way you have a solid ride, can tow anything, and better mileage than giant mudders. (as well as they last way longer)
Ya I know u can buy gear sets, but is it something most people can do, the only thing I have hired out on my truck is tranny work, never touched a gear set though. Brakes, have gone from stopping 33s to 37s and theres a difference, brakes are new in the last six months. The ride is rough. The lift is a pro comp lift with shocks, not even pulled with it yet.

If you've never touched gears before, I'd invite someone who has a few successful installs first. In the Jeep world, we refer to Procomp as Procrap. LOL. Good luck man.
I got the lift/tires & wheels off my brother, he pulled a 26 ftr with it and it pulld fine. I was ready for tires so bought it off him. I tow maybe 1000 miles a year. The lift has about 15,000 on it.
