Fixing swapped radio
After talking to one of the service guys at the local Ford dealership (I bought the truck out of town), and then doing some snooping around in the truck, it appears that somebody swapped the stock radio out.
I had another guy from the same dealership pull the build info from the truck, and it is supposed to have a 6-CD player with the aux jack, and the truck also has the satellite radio antenna on behind the windshield, so I'm assuming it had that as well.
The radio that's in it is a single-CD player, there is no aux jack, and it didn't like to play CDs for very long, until it ate two at one time and quit working altogether.
With info from another post on this site (thanks guys), I was able to get the part number for the radio today, and the radio is from an '06 Explorer (P/N 6L2T-18C869-AG).
The truck still has the factory warranty, but the service guy here says they can't even replace the radio that's in it under the warranty. However, I had a guy from another dealership tell me that they could get a warranty replacement for the radio that's currently in it.
The general manager of the dealership I bought the truck from (long story there) says he'll fix it for me under the warranty, if I drive the 3 hours down there, but I need to see if he still says that the next time that I talk to him.
To complicate matters, though, I can see that there are cut wires behind the radio, and the fact that the back-lighting doesn't work means it will require some re-wiring, and I want to get ahold of the aux audio cable even if I just get a replacement for the radio that is in it now.
So, first, does anybody know where I can get ahold of a connector pin out for the radio that's in the truck now and a pin out for the stock radio?
Second, does anybody know if the dealership should be able to swap out the current radio, or even get me a replacement factory radio (not counting on that, but it's worth asking), under the warranty?
Thanks.
