Awesome truck!! Tell more about history of it. Did you do it yourself? Where did you get your parts? What is the 10% left to do? That thing is something to be proud of, very impressed!!!!

That's a sharp ride; when I pop this open it kinda reminded me of my recent built 76 Highboy. But your looks better.

I bought the from a guy in texas in 2008 while home on R&R from deployment. The paint was done by a guy here in kansas that is one of the best i have ever met with this seriers of trucks. I disasembled and re assembled the truck myself between deployments.
It is a 1978 custom 4x4 i only changes I made from factory (I hope) is the color and the tires and 4 in lift. The original color was brown and with the money I was spending I wanted red. The brown just did not do it for me.
the entire bed inside and out, under the cab up to the fire wall and inside of the cab have been lined with bed liner. Belive me if could come apart it has. I love this truck and just need to finish the 10 % like finish tuning the motor, decals, and finial allingment of the cab/ bed. i want to find a crome rollbar with lights and then it might be done. I also need to clean it up some more the undercarrage is dirty.

The frame and running gear were disassembled sandblasted, primed, and painted then I took all the peices home and put them back together. the wireing harness was in pretty good shape so it was retained with some minor repairs. Every peice was cleaned, primed and painted. I did buy the carpet and door panles from LMC as well as the fancy head liner. i would like to find some original door panles but no luck so far.
The motor is a crate motor (351M) tranny a c6 and a 205 Tcase, all but the motor original, the motor does have the correct casting numbers for the year period. I have the original motor which im going to rebuild but time is not on my side so i put the crate in in the mean time.

Please if anyone see anything that does not look right please let me know. I allways built my trucks to beat on and slop around in the mud but decieded to build this one so me and the wife could cruse around in our old age. i knew how much time and $$$ it would take so I started now. I have more pic I will post later to my album later today. This site and you guys have helped out a bunch with this build thanks.

Other than the bed looks like it needs to be shifted towards the drivers side just a little Id say it looks perfect.
If it was mine, Id put square headlights and the chrome bezels around them and the the drip rail trim. Thats all I can see that I would do and ofcourse thats just my taste. Looks great just like it is though.

To add along with Ronzi; I like the wheel well chrome trim as well. It gives the tire / body definition seperation IMHO.
Again sharp truck.

The only reason i kept the round head lights is that what it came with. I thought the square headlight came out in at 78.5. I like the square look to but trying to keep it correct. The fender wheel trim is comming as well as the trim around the tail lights. I looked at the ones from LMC and they are to shiney and the tailgate trim just looked like crap. need to find another sourse for thoes items any ideas?

The rectangular headlights came out in 78 but the trucks with custom level trim retained the round headlights through mid/late year 78.
