Hey I am new to this forum but i have a few questions about my speedo on my 2001 F250 automatic tranny. I put in a new tranny on it and the o/d light is blinking and the sel light is on and the speedo doesn't work. I took it to ford and they checked the codes, they were-P0500speed sensor malfunction,P1502speed sensor intermitant and P1464 AC demand out of range. The service tech said he never saw or heardabout the AC demand code before, any ideas? Also the tech said that each wheel had a speed sensor and they were about $80 a piece. I really dont think there is a sensor on each wheel assembly, but I could be wrong, where are the sensors located or is it just the one the rear end. Any help is greatly appreciated mike
thanks for the input. I just replaced the vss on the differential and the sensor on the transfer case adapter. I had a shop rebuild but I installed it, the sensor was connected to the tranny before I installed it. I will try the one on the tranny, but I have a gut feeling that the ring sensor might be damaged. The vss on the differential had some sludge and some small metal shavings on it(has 175,000 miles on it). I will probably pull the cover and check it just for peace of mind. Any thoughts?
new vss sensor put in and checked the ring gear, wanted to change fluid anyway. The vss sensor connector is a swivel one, so I am wondering if the contacts are bad or there could be a bad connection. The speedometer actually worked for me when I went to get gear oil for rear end, then stopped working again.

Sounds like it could be a chaffed wire. New VSS then things work then stop again.....something is making contact where it shouldn't...or maybe a connector along the way isn't making good enough contact.
I was thinking that last night, my brother in law put a 2009 bed on it and I wonder if he nicked a wire, the problem started after that, thanks for the heads up I am going to test the wiring harness tomorrow.
Well I checked the harness from the vss sensor on the rear diff. to the harness plug in the engine compartment with a continuity tester and it is fine. I will try to locate the wires underneath the dash to make sure they are not damaged. Anybody know what the magnetic pick up on top of the tranny is for, I have replaced the vss on the diff and the sensor on the transfer case adaptor, starting to drive me crazy
