Fortunately mine had it in the paperwork when I got the truck.
I seriously doubt its that easy to put the #s in untill you hit it, the majority of the time.
There are 100,000 potential combinations. Which would be
00000
00001
00002
00003
00004 all the way thru to 99,999

My luck aint that good

Correction, there are a 100k combinations but there are only about 3,000 or so actual button combinations. In other words there are 32 combinations that would press the buttons in consecutive order ie. 13579, 24680, 13679, 24589, etc

Boys, why play the numbers game, I removed the wife's purse hanger hook beneath the stereo and with a small flash light you can see the numbers printed on a sticker inside the dash. Shoot, it took me about 30 seconds to get the code.

Thanks for the numbers! I got mine in very quickly. Unfortunately I have a 2000 and haven't been able to find the numbers anywhere. This was a HUGE help. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Shawn

My 04 Limited 4x4 Excursion had the code on the HVAC box behind the radio. Just took the panel off from below the steering wheel to see it with a flash light. Have to look at the perfect angle to be able to see it. (and the sticker was upside down) That is the factory code which you can not change.... to input your own personal code, you have to input the factory code first.

(my keypad disables itself for a certain period of time after 35 incorrect keys pressed)

did the same..look to the left, behind a black box and there it was, need the slide the drink holder out (to its normal position) and look at that level.

Actually, there are "only" 3125 combinations, since 1 is the same as 2, 3 the same as 4, etc. So the combinations run like:
11111
11113
11115
11117
11119
11131
etc., all the way up to 99999.

That's 5 to the 5th power combinations, or 3125.

So assuming 2 keypresses per second, that's 26 minutes for an exhaustive (brute-force) search. Obviously it's far more likely that you'd hit it before then.

Of course if you've entered a personal code, then that doubles the chances that you'll (or a thief will) hit it sooner...

The owners manual for the 2005 X says that there is an anti-scan feature, that, once 7 incorrect codes have been entered, disables the keypad for 1 minute (unless you hit unlock on the fob). I think that makes the brute force attack somewhat harder on the 2005 X.

I found mine on the security control module above the emergency brake release, but behind a bunch of wires and HVAC padding. I could not gain access to it to look for the code, so I took my cell phone in video record mode and just kinda stuck it in there and waved it around a bit, and then pulled it out and watched the video. Did that like 5 times before I could finally get a clear-enough picture to see the code... In the end, though, that worked...

I bought my new-to-me Ex and it had only 1 key (no remotes).
I took it to the dealer and bought 2 remotes and 2 more keys,
and had them look up the code for me (since I paid enough for the
keys they gave me the code w/o additional charge)

When I bought my X, it came with one remote and one key. Purchased a key blank on EBAY and had hardware store cut the key. Then my brother come over and programed the new key (he also read the code from the computer for the key pad on the door). Ordered the second remote from EBAY and programed that myself. I think I have $30 in the extra remote and key.

That is genius! I wish I would have thought of that. Instead, I used one of the wife's makeup mirrors...

What year is your X? If it is one of the newer ones (2002 or 2003+), you should be able to find the sticker under the dash.

Either the code you have for some reason is not correct, or your keypad is not working. Does it light up when you are punching the numbers? I would try the loooooong combo above to see if you can get it to work.
