Hello everyone. Well back in 2006, I had my stupid subwoofer amp repaired (for my 2002 EB Expy) because it quit working (https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...se-really.html). I found out then, that it had already been repaired once before in 2004. Now it is not working again! I called the guy who fixed it in 2006 and the repair price increased from $50 to $125!
I can't believe this amp is such a POS!
So ... question: Can I (please oh please) just replace the amp with an aftermarket? The reason I didn't do so in the past was because the stuff I read in these forums (and internet) said that the ohms are weird for the Mach audio system, and an aftermarket wouldn't work. PLEASE TELL ME THIS HAS CHANGED (in other words, there are more options for those of us that have had to put up with this BAD quality control)??!!!

I found one for sale on eBay, but would rather replace it with something that WILL WORK for longer than 2 years
I don't require an amp that will blow my head off... just something comparable to the factory.
Take a look at these. Car Selector I got the MTX in mine and I love it, however I have the in dash Pioneer AVIC-F90BT navigation/stereo/video system in mine
Just curious, do you know what is going bad on the amp?
When I had my '97 the sub amp quit, and I noticed when I messed with the wire harness it would work again. My solution was to get a plastic wedge from the hardware store and wedge it in next to the wire harness plug, it worked with no problems until I sold the truck.
My radio quit working and I found it was the fuse (had blown). So I replaced the fuse, turned the key and I heard a "pop" back by the sub amp (and never heard that again) - fuse blew! Replaced the fuse again and it immediately blew again (when I turned the key). So I was suspecting the amp, since I'd had problems with it before. However, when i t broke in the past, my sub just quit working and I didn't have any problems with my radio (fuse). Anyway, I tore my Expy apart to get to the amp and disconnected the pwr line going into it... and replaced my radio fuse and it worked again (only my radio - not the sub). Reconnected, and the fuse blew again. I called the place that fixed it before and he said that is definitely the amp.
madsonp - thx... but yeah... I'm wondering if an aftermarket sub amp will work with the Mach Audio system... anyone out there know...? or had any luck...?
