They rub a little in front turning hard... Kinda annoying.

What does the bypass look like? I did notice a metal cylinder thing with a spring inside and another metal cylinder thing that had fallen out. I just put it back in where the hole was... can you even get to it without pulling the cooler again?

Did you put it back in the correct order , then re stake it in place ?.. you can see it by un screwing the oil filter
If the filter becomes clogged/plugged the oil reroutes from the filter thru the bypass back to the cc. Your gonna need a small chissel or garbage screw driver to make a notch with a hammer in 3 spots to hold in the disc and spring, should be able to see where they already are and just redo them..

Thank you for that explanation. Knowledge is a very powerful tool.
Now the question is .. what the heck is a garbage screw driver?
you know, that one you like to hit with a hammer and use for scraping gasket material that says craftsman on it and gets returned every so often for a new one!! lol

Thanks for the picture, Rick. I know what a sending unit typically looks like and can see it clearly in the picture. What general area of the engine am I going to be looking at? I see what looks to be some coolant hoses there. I read somewhere that the thing is at the top rear of the engine near the firewall. Correct?
I am tied up with work most of the day Saturday and I am hoping to be home in time to have enough daylight to pop a new one in (and solidify the connection) on Saturday afternoon.
It doesn't help that everything is so clean and shiny in your photo either! Kinda like reverse camouflage trying to find the same stuff on a dirty engine!

definitely not on the rear of the engine.. front of engine on top of the HPOP reservoir on the left side if your standing in front of your truck....
