my van has had a coolant leak for the last few years, not much, just needs a topup every few months. well on saturday it decided it was time to spray. went through 3x4liter bottles of water in 15 minutes to drive it out to fix it.
initially we had thought it was a headgasket gone bad - luckily it was much easier than that - the front cover gasket failed up at the top. new gaskets were ordered for the front cover and water pump, everything was reinstalled and its all good for another few years.
while we had everything apart, we discovered why the airconditioner had failed: both lines running to the rear of the compressor were rusted through.
i had planned to swap my engine mounts, but after seeing how the one bracket has collapsed, im going to leave them until i get "new" brackets from a donor van as i cant find them anywhere online.
we couldnt see where it was coming from until we removed the alternator bracket, we could see exactly where it was seeping out from (we had mostly drained out the coolant)
timing chain wasnt even touched, it was exposed, but no need to remove
