a received my FTVB friday so saturday i installed it along with a tranny flush and magnifine filter. im happy with it excepth the 2 to 3 shift, its almost neck breaking! the 1 to 2 and 3 to OD shifts are beautiful, fast and firm with no ill effects. Now the 2 to 3 shift is just horrible under all driving conditions. no matter how easy slow or fast i try to drive its bangs everytime, im actually afraid to drive it because i think its gonna break a u-joint or my ring and pinion. So i called FT yesterday and spoke to a installer i suppose and was told to put the truck back to stock and drive it to see how it shifts. well i did that drove it yesterday and today to work same shifting. So i have to call back today ask for greg the owner and tell him whats happening and see if its set up right. if not i was told greg could make me a custom one to "fix" the problem. So did anyone else experience this after installing their factory tech valve body or did i just get a bad one?
well i called back and got to speak to gregg this afternoon. i explained what was happening and he said its most likely a sticking valve and that he would build me a brand new one and hopefully get it to me by friday. Only thing is he was kind of cought off guard when i told him that i have a 5.4 F-350 as he said oh really?? i dont know maybe its odd for a owner like me to buy a valve body to put in a 5.4 powerd super duty but hopefully this new one will solve my problem. since i just spent 100 bucks on fluid to flush my tranny can i get the old jugs and a funnel and drain the fluid from the pan into the jugs? it should be clean because the jugs are clean right?
Your chip may be affecting the firmness of your shifts. With 4.30's you can probably get quite the 2nd gear scratch out of that thing, No?
I've had a FTVB for several years. I love it. It took me awhile to get used to the neck snap every time it shifted. I have 3.73 gears in a CC which may, or may not, make any difference, but the shifting has become smoother as it ages.
i uninstalled my chip yesterday and it still shifts extremely hard on my 2 to 3 shift. my 1 to 2 is great, thats why gregg thinks its a sticky spring he says sometimes this happens so hes making me a brand new one
