Question about tire size

Sorry if this thread is a repeat but i couldnt find all the answers to my questions in previous threads. Ok to start things off i know hardly anything about trucks and how they work, but im very interested in learning all of this.I have a 1995 F150 5.8L Ext Cab. Stock everything. I want to get larger tires and possibly a suspension lift. Whats the largest size tire i could fit without a lift. I was thinking either 33 or 32 inch. but have no idea if that would even work. What is the size of the stock tire on my truck ( i want to know how much larger i would be going). Would 11.5 width fit stock rims? or would it be safer to go with the 10.5 inch?

I really want to get a lift but not sure if i have enough money, about how much would a decent 4-6 inch suspension lift run me? which brands?

Sorry for all the questions any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

lift kits

you can find smaller lift kits on ebay for less then $40. pretty much anything you want, would work, but actually a good question would be, why do you want to lift it?

Welcome!

I don't know of any lift kits that only cost 40 dollars, except maybe a used body lift. Stay away from body lifts.

If your truck is 2wd then you can run 31 10.50 15. If its 4wd you should be able to run 32 11.50 15 without a lift. Thats probably what I would do.

If your set on lifting it, the best way to go is a 4 inch lift and 33 12.50 15.

4wheelingplus.com has a 4 in suspension lift for about $500. thats about the cheapest lift you will find. with that lift you will be able to fit 33" x12.5 15r on the stock wheels. any larger than that and you will get tire rub. i would go no larger that 31" on stock supension, 32" will give you some rub

Thanks for all the help guys. I checked out the lifts on the 4wheelingplus.com. Off Road Store: 1980-1996 Ford F-150 Pickup 4WD 6" Suspension Lift Kit with shocks - Rough Country, Ford Suspension Lift Kits, 470H .Are they decent quality? i noticed there quite a bit cheaper compared to the skyjacker, rancho, etc. I want the lift for looks but i will also be offroading quite a bit but nothing at all extreme.

Why do you want a 6 inch lift?

A 4 inch lift and 33s keeps the truck more usable and still allows access to the bed. It also doesn't affect the truck's handling characteristics as much.

I would also recommend a steering stabilizer.

These pickups(in a 4x4) can handle a 33x12.50R15 tire on 15x10 wheels with 4 inches of backspacing in stock form. When you change the tire size to someting 33 or bigger you are going to want to change the gears in the axles. I have 33s on my 94. All I had to do was trim part of the front bumper. As for the gearsn its so you aren't over working your motor and trans. Right now I have stock gears, when at WOT, it won't hit 3rd gear untell 78 MPH. Usually if I'm at 75 mph, it will shift in and out of OD, so I just run it in drive, suprisingly I got 12 MPG, at 75 mph on a 220 mile trip running it in D. The motor was runnin at 2700 rpm so it wasn't too bad.

I would personally run 35s with a 4 inch lift. 33s look funny with a 4 inch lift. They look tinny. The 33s I have don't rub anywhere.

I'm my opinion 33 12.50 are too big for no lift. It may work, but most people dont want to cut bumpers etc. I would not go bigger than 32 11.50 on a 15x8 wheel. The wider 10 inch wheels only look good on 12.50 tires.

I do agree about regearing for 33+ tires, that is a must.

Yes, you are right. A lot of people don't want to cut any part of their pickup. I like the look of a full fenderwell.

But It is all personal preference here.

the rough country is a good quality lift, but it depends on what you are doing. if you are hardcore offroading, i would suggest a more pricey kit. if you just trailride sometimes, and the occasional mud hole, it will do just fine

x2 on the steering stabilizer (i beileve the rough country kits include them)

Hey thanks a lot guys. Sorry for the delay, I didnt have chance to check my computer for a while. I think in going to go with the 32x11.5 R15 like TexasGuy001 said. I decided the lifting, regearing, brake lines, decreased mpg, etc. just wasnt very practical for me since this truck is my daily driver. If anyone has any pictures of there trucks with 32x11.5 R15 tires feel free to post them please!
