I installed a 302 in a 84 or 5 ranger. The truck had a 2.9 ? i think and an 5 speed. The owner brought me a Schucks 302 and all the other goodies and a auto trans and transfer case from another Ranger. Supposedly it was a C5 and it bolted up. It was pretty simple. The guy had a 2 inch body lift which made for lots of room. I got a install book from advance adapters and followed it. They tell where to cut and how, they give part numbers and really make it easy. The guy says he is getting 19 mpg which is a little less than he got with the V6 but has twice the power. He is a horse shoer and carries alot of weight and hasnt broken any of the running gear so I would say its a good swap.
