tires for towing

i have Bfg long trails now, i was looking into going up a size(31 to 32), and going with a tread with better offroad and snow traction but still be great at towing over 5k. any suggestions?

E-rated tires are what I would recommend. But you could do ok with D's if it is for your bronco in your sig.

I am running Coopers, they do pretty good, not too noisy.

What are they going on? 1/2 ton load range D is all you would need. If you max out D's on a 1/2 ton (unless on one of the new 1/2 tons), Unhook whatever you are fixing to pull as you are overloading. I have and alway will run BFG A/T KOs Load range E on my 1 ton. I get on average 60K out of them and they are great on road and what little offroad I need. I run the 285/75 16 which is roughly a 33x11.5. Just my .02

96 bronco, im looking at the coopers or BFG A/T Kos. will increasing the size from 31 to 32 affect the towing?

You are going to affect it a little bit because of the increase diameter you are effectivly raising your final gear ratio. Will it be noticable I doubt it but over time you are going to tax your tranny if you do a lot of heavy towing. I have not had much luck with Coopers myself, they do not last long for me.

Fully_Loaded is right, you will notice a little decrease in power/mpg with upsizeing but don't think too much. It will be off-set by the new look/statisfaction factor!

I have had two sets of coopers and they run great. But I am in a 10 ply (E).

I'm a big fan of my Firestone Transforce A/Ts. I do plan on upgrading to Destination A/Ts when they finally wear out because I don't do nearly as much towing as my dad did, but I want better offroad performance. My dad has had Steeltex/Transforce tires on my truck since he bought it in 1995, and it worked well on road with a pallet of seed in the bed, and two more on a trailer, and when pulling trailers/anhydrous/wagons through the field. Despite the heavy loading, they've always seemed to wear very well and have always lasted a good amount of time (sorry, can't actually put a mileage number to this claim)
