Disneyworld question....
Question for you....i'm in Orlando right now and we're looking to go to disneyworld.....it seems dumb to come to orlando and not go there....but tickets are 80 bucks a day and we really just want to walk through and take a look.......so we were thinking of going later in the day as every other place we've gone so far has discounted rates late in the day....
Does anyone know if Disneyworld does????
$80 sounds like a wad of tickets to me, and the tickets are in different denominations for the various attractions.
An "A" ticket may be good for a ride around the park on a steam locomotive.
We get the Racing parlance saying "E-TICKET RIDE" from Disneyland - those are the premier rides that cost a lot to go on - like the infamous "MATTERHORN" or "SPACE MOUNTAIN".
In my day you would buy a book of A through E tickets, and wander around at will. You can still see everything, and adults don't always want to go on all of the rides - so my Mom could be talked out of a ticket from her book so that I could explore the Swiss Family Robinson Tree house for example (too much climbing for her)
Pirates of the Carribean and the Jungle Boat Ride was always a whole family thing....
And you could always go back to the gates and buy more if you need to.
They DO have many events that cost nothing at all - this may seem suprising, but there are often concerts and shows that don't require anything but attendence. No tickets needed...
What gets truly expensive is 14 carat mickey watches, and other souvenirs. FOOD in the park is also likely to be high priced, but that is true of all theme parks.
In Los Angeles the last time I was there (I think it was in 1985) I found a very fine family run Italian Restaurant not far from Disneyland - the same may be true at Disneyworld. I suspect that your seafood dining choices there in Florida are superb...
So there are ways around these prices, they call for sharing and deciding what is the right amount to spend on this entertainment - but it is indeed a magical place....
Since you are in Orlando - why don't you call them on the telephone and ask them if what I have told you is true in this day and age? You can certainly get a better idea of the prices by talking directly to the source...
ALSO - my mother and father always packed a picnic basket when we went to Disneyland. It was left in a cooler out in the car in the lot. You can go out the gates by getting your hand stamped with an ink mark (which itself is another souvenir - but it doesn't last long) so that you show that mark to get back in. You only have to pay for admission ONCE
May I suggest large submarine sandwiches that can be bought at any Walmart in the deli section? They are only about five bucks apiece and can feed as many as THREE people...
So bring sandwiches, and whatever you want with you... You will be glad you did. I don't think they sell beer or other alcoholic beverages in the park either. If you are accustomed to a glass of wine with dinner you will not find it there.
Your biggest problem will be keeping track of everyone.
But there again the park people are very helpful - lost children are announced over a PA system, so that their parents can come and collect them. Young ones are not left alone and crying in Disneyworld... Someone pays attention to them at once!
BRING A CAMERA or a PICTURE TAKING CELL PHONE
and make sure it is fully charged...
This is a thing your young ones will remember all the days of their lives - and even better if you have pictures

You should take as many pictures as you can!
As a matter of fact - I would like to see them too if you do go there! I remember that place, and have been to both of them. East and west...
Well - it was a suggestion....
And in either case my ideas (handed down from my folks) still apply - you can save a bit by not buying food in the park - bring a lot of soda's too.
I bet coffee is four dollars a cup...
And yet still -
You've gone back there 8 times.
That says something.

We'd take the kids to space mountain in the evening, and there was virtually no waiting, so they really liked it.
Also, it was sometimes cheaper to buy multiple days -- they said that they NEVER expire. We used ours many years later.
If your kids are older, Epcot might be more fun -- but not cheaper!

But is it eighty bucks each, or eighty bucks for the whole family?
That coin counts up really fast...

Haven't see any discounts either just for tickets.

I purchase my tickets from their reccommended vendor Undercover Tourist.
Another on the ground source is the Walmart in Kissimme.
Kissimmee Wal-Mart
If you are driving or renting a car in Florida, here's another option: the Wal-Mart at 4444 W. Vine in Kissimmee, one town over from Orlando, has a ticket center within the store that sells discounted multi-day Disney World tickets.
They do not carry every ticket type. You have to buy the tickets in person -- they will not mail them. I would recommend calling ahead at (407) 397-0090 or (800) 669-0913 to confirm prices, hours and availability.
I think they were the 10 day non expiry hopper tickets.
you get 10 days in all of the parks *the hopper bit let you move around them) and 10 days in the water parks.
20 days in all and will keep goingn till they run out of uses.
nothing to stop you taking your own food in , they just search your bags.
we always take our cuban bread stuffed with ham n chicken.
water fountains a plenty , no need to buy drinks unless you dont drink water.
but we found the best deal if you do want to buy food (we have 8 kids so 10 of us) was the macdonalds in magic kingdom , if i remember $6.00each for fries and hot dogs.
that kept us going in the evening if we were staying late.
to be honest all the diners are open late on the 192 so getting a good meal after the parks was our most common option.
