Fire inside brake drum !

My friend,s 9 inch rear end caught on fire behind the brake drum , it burned so hot he could not put it out with a fire extinguisher. My question is, can you reuse the axle after it gets real hot? He said it was so hot it melted the backing plate and all brake parts. All opinions are appreciated!

Nod, even if the axle is OK, He will have to pull it, to replace bearings, seals and other parts, and those are cheap enough to replace. I suggest DO IT. He should be able to but a whole rear set up for less than $200.00

IMHO
