i had the same problem with my 86 and it needed new crankshaft bearings...they just wear and there is so much space that it cant build up oil pressure when the oil is hot ...when the oil gets hot it turns very thin ...and that was that......

What he said. I had a Cheby with a 454 that had this problem and once I replaced the rod bearings, the mains were OK, the oil pressure came up to normal. I replaced the oil pump with a new one at the same time.
thanks for everything! 1. I need the location of the oil sender unit, so i can change it? 2. Should I clean the oil pan to get more pressure (if it safe to do it)? 3. Should I use 20w50 oil instead of 10w40 or change to synthetic oil? 4. If its safe to change the oil filter to a smaller one? 5. Can you give me the procedure for changing the oil pan. Thanks.
thanks for everything! 1. I need the location of the oil sender unit, so i can change it? Look on the block just above the oil filter, that's where it wan on my 302.
2. Should I clean the oil pan to get more pressure (if it safe to do it)? What do you mean "Clean the oil pan?" That won't help your problem.
3. Should I use 20w50 oil instead of 10w40 or change to synthetic oil? Not worth using synthetic one an old engine, but a 15W-40 or a 20W-50 may help, but it's only a stop gap measure. The oil pan will have to come off if the pressure does not come up and the bearings replaced. 4. If its safe to change the oil filter to a smaller one? Yes, but why?
5. Can you give me the procedure for changing the oil pan. Thanks.
Find a repair manual for your vehicle, I've found some at my local library if you can't find one for sale of don't want to buy one.
