I was thinking that all 2008 vehicles were standard with the tpms system as a standard feature. I recently replaced my tires and their were no TPMS sensors or bands around the rim. I believe I have a 08 job 1, was this an option for 08 and then standard the next year?
I don't have the TPMS either and SOOO glad I don't! Any vehicle I've seen with it has been more of a pain than anything else. They're too sensative. To put it on a pickup truck that may have varying loads and therefore varying desired tire pressure is down right stupid. When you're empty, you don't need, or want 80 psi in the rear tires. Conversely, you'll want more than, say 50psi when you're loaded. With my truck, I keep 80 psi in front because it's better for MPG's and easier on the steering. Plus it just looks too soft unless the air is up to max psi for the tire. I get full tread contact because these trucks are so front heavy. In the rear, I keep 50-60 psi when empty and can always air up when the load demands it. I won't have full tread contact with the rear tires unless they're aired down to 50-60psi when the truck's empty. BTW, having full tread contact is key in tire tread life, along with tire rotations at every service.
