Question 400 exhaust

i would like to know why my exhaust sounds different on one side than the other. one side has a lope the other sounds eratic like. engine runs fine as far as i can tell.

the best thing to do is to pull all the plugs and do a compression test

oh and my truck tends to lope at idle

exhaust

i have been wanting to do a compression test but i have never done one so other than getting a consistant pressure on each, i'm not sure what to look for. i recently done some work to engine such as new destributor, coil, plugs and wires, head gasket on driver side only cause of broken bolt in exhaust(had to get heli coil) , new ds exhaust manifold, intake gasket, new holly carb, pvc, air filter, and a few other things. but all that was just to give it a good tune up and insure i had good vacuum since it also had a rough idle. it runs the same as before, other than it idles smoothly now. i'm pretty good at changing parts, but not so good at diagnosing. thanks

how are your pipes run?

I have a duals on my 2wd f150. When the muffler shop ran the pipes they made no attempt to route the pipes in a like fashion. As a result one pipe is quite a bit longer with more bends than the other. Each side has a very different sound. Wouldn't think it was the same truck.

Thank's for all the help! Once i get a chance to look into it further, I will do a compression test and look at the routing of pipes. will see where i am then. Thank's
