I have a 1984 ford bronco with a 300 6 cyl. I was driving it down the highway when BOOM, Lost all power and currently have no spark. I have had everything checked and it all pans out, coil, ignition module on distributor, I have actually rebuilt the distributor in the last 6 months. My wiring is fine, other side of the underhood has all been replaced, starter, alternator etc. What else is there?
So, time to test my voltage, how do you mean? voltage of what exactly. My engine cranks over but I have no spark. I have plenty of power to my coil. What about the Engine control module under the dash? Everything electrical but that has been replaced within the last year as far as the electric system is concerned.
I had something similar happen to me this summer. Turned out to be the roll pin on the distributor gear sheared off. I had the cap off and the rotor would spin while cranking the motor so I never gave it a thought. I was getting ready to pull the distributor when I noticed I could turn the rotor by hand. Might be worth a look.
Woo Hoo I actually got one right.
Hopefully you didn't have to go thru all the nonsense I did. When mine went bad, the rotor still turned with the engine so the roll pin was last thing I thought to check.
