What I've learned this last week...
1. when making a trip to tucson in an old truck, make sure your charging system works
2. When removing a distributor, mark where it was at, along with the rotor.

3. Make sure you've cleaned everything you need to before painting a crossmember, otherwise you're just gonna dirty up your fresh paint.

4. Carburetor cans need to be a lot bigger and a lot cheaper!

5. When a can of spray paint says use in a well ventilated area, it's for a good reason, but if you don't, the effects can be kinda fun

6. You can never have too much satin black spray paint

7. No auto parts store in the greater Phoenix area has single barrel carb gaskets or pushrods in stock, go figure?

8. When your dad's very upset by the hometeam losing in the playoffs, don't tell him bad news
I knew getting the plugs in the right spot for the distributor was important, so I unplugged one, then plugged it into the corresponding plug in the new distributor cap.
I used about 1 1/2 cans of carb cleaner, 1 can of anything is rarely ever enough.
And also, my did wasn't very happy when he asked how it was going and I said "I cant get it to start" when I was replacing the points/condenser/coil. Luckily he wasn't watching a game where his team was loosing, that would have really ticked him off. I had the same problem when I was rebuilding the carburetor, it wouldn't start.
I got it to start though, I didn't have the points gaped correctly. The carb was a pretty simple fix too.
i can relate to #5 lol i have been a painter for 25+ years. even outside you should wear a respirator. them partical mask's just dont cut it! But something is better than nothing.
