So I took the VSS out of the rear end today and cleaned it with CRC cleaner. I took the plug apart and sprayed inside where the pins are located, and pulled the magnet out and cleaned it really well. I also took all of the fuses out from under the dash and checked them and none of them were blown. I put the VSS back in the axle and took her for a spin with the same problems and issues as before. What should I look at next, mybe changing the oil in the rear end? I think someone mentioned a part behind the speedometer. Is there any more fuses under the hood that may have blown and could affect this?

Thanks for everyone's help on this!!!

Dustin

TRS on the side of the trans is the only other thing.

if somebody had some VSS testing info, that could help. Your VSS could be bad. but i woudlnt' want to send you to the parts store to get another one to try and fix it and ahve it not work.

TRS does do anything for the speedo so don't got there. If you have an ohm meter I think the VSS should measure about 1200-1500 ohms across the two pins on the sensor. The sensors are pretty cheap so you could just try it if you want. Other wise you are looking at a wiring issue or a speedo head issue

Thanks Tim. I was not sure on TRS.

I went in and asked for a VSS one time and they got me a TRS. Going more off of that. DOH!

Yeah I think you need to ask for an ABS sensor to get the correct sensor. Glad you mentioned that William

Yea. I was like. WTF. I know to always look at parts before you leave the store. This one saved me a good 20 mins of hastle looking in the box.

TRS has to do with shifting, but the VSS needs to work right to make the TRS work right also.
Cause its just a range sensor.
But I've heard before from somebody that the TRS has something to do with speed, but you know better than I do. So i'm going to believe you. =)

I had to replace my VSS in the rear end a couple years ago and it was only about $20 and 5 min to replace. Might be worth your time to swap it.

Thanks for all your help guys. I bought a new vVSS due to it not ohming out like it should(may have been operator error also! LoL), and it fixed the problem. Truck shifts smoothly again, overdrive light is working properly, and the ABS light went off. Thank you guys a ton. I almost can not wait to have another problem to test yaw on.
