1970 F-250 Sport Custom 4x4
360, 4 speed
Fisher Quick Switch plow (Original?)
rust holes big enough to walk through
46,000 original miles
original manual/warranty statement
Bought it yesterday. These have got to be the biggest, most beautiful trucks I have ever seen. It needs lots of body work, but most 30 year old trucks here in New England need body work. I had been looking at this truck up on a hill for about 5 years! Paid 500$ for truck and plow, good deal? It runs very well, and has 46,000 miles which I believe is original mileage.... To me it's worth a hundred thousand dollars.
It has starter problems... the starter engages and then kicks out and whirs to a stop, so unless the engine fires right up you have to try several times to get it started. My dad's 79 F350 has the same problem. We've taken his starter apart and there is nothing obvious wrong. What is it with these Ford starters that they kick out? Can they be fixed?
Also, the "SportCUSTOM" logo on the rear of the bed is broken on one side , where might I get a replacement?
One of the only 1970 trucks I've seen without a broken grille. Sorry, don't have pictures yet.
Got pictures of other Ford/Ch*vy trucks though at:
Adam just get you a reman. starter with a lifetime warranty, install it and injoy your prize.
You had to go infect the whole list, by listing that brand X junk on here. I'll have to spend the whole afternoon, scrubbing and disinfecting my computer.
Dang it man.

I have three Ford pickups, '68 F-100 with 40,000 original miles, '77 F-150, and a 1978 F-150. They all run great and the most I paid was $250! God Bless America!
Like the above post said - it's time to replace the starter. It disengages just at the point when it pops just before starting. It's a bad Bendix and it's time to change the starter. You can get a new Bendix for less than $20.00 and it will fix it temporarily. If you do this, the next thing that will happen in about two months is the starter won't kick out and it will start dragging.
