83 F350 axle code 43. I think its a dana 70, need to be sure. I'm looking for a RR hub and need to make sure I know what I'm looking for. It will have to be from a DRW axle I assume.
There can be a model no.(60,70, etc) cast into the bottom-right web (on the rear face) of the diff housing, where the RH axle tube enters, or a larger '60' or '70' etc up on the front of the housing.
The guide I have shows code 43 for 1983-85 to be a 3.54 Dana (presumably 70), 7400 capacity.
There is a date stamp & a Bill of Materials number on the rear of the RH axle tube (small digits on mine, had to sand & hunt) - if you get the BOM no. you can decode at -
this truck has plowed snow and spread salt the last 6+ yrs, so no tags exist, let alone readable. Its definitely not a sterling, so I think it has to be a dana. I just want to know what will work when I search ebay etc.
I checked the webbing on the rear, all I see is a little diamond shape symbol (dana I assume) I'll check the front for a cast in #. Thanks for the help
Yes it is a DRW truck, thats why I said in my OP I assume the hub will have to come from another DRW truck. It's not the truck in my sig/gallery, its an 83 stakebody 351w, mt, 2wd
