460 hard to start

460 hard to start

I have a 78 F150 with a 460. i purchased a high torque started, i have new 2 ga cable running straight to the starter and a die hard 900 cca battery. if the motor is cold the truck starts fine but once the motor is warmed up. it does not want to crank over. it has a unilite dist. with a 750 holley one it. does anyone have any ideals. also if anyone can tell me where i can get shims or adjustable rockers for my dove heads i would appreciate it. i have looked in jegs and summit with no luck.

I had a similar problem with my truck. I had a 00 gauge cable made at a tractor dealer and ran that from the starter to the solenoid, no more problems.

I will have to try that. the cable does get hot. But i talked to a few people and they said it should be heavy enough cable. but i am willing to try anything
