Re-build considerations
I have a 84 300 bored .030 over equiped with a Clifford intake, a 264 degree comp cam, a header sucking from a Holley 650cfm double pumper that I re-built 6 years ago. Still runs like a champ but burns coolant and oil pretty good, but still holds 50 psi oil pressure. This motor is in my 86 Bronco with 36'' tires that I romp on all the time, running the 5500-6000rpm range frequently.
I'm looking for a kit or special grade/quality of metal to look for that will stand up to more comprehsion, hp, and torque. Also looking to put a turbo on it so I want a kit that will put up with the added load.
Thanks again
I don't know much about cam's but is that 264 supposed to help you rev to 6,000 rpm?
A stock 300 doesn't have to rev past 3,400 rpm.
Maybe it's my ignorance, but I don't think you have enough of a build to turn over 6,000 rpm. I don't know how your engine hasn't disasembled itself by now.
