I am in the process of converting the original drum brakes on my '69 F100 with disc brakes from a '76 F150. Everything came apart ok, but getting it back together seems to be a problem. Anyone know the technique to get the king pins back in place? I have been placing the brass bushing in the spindle and trying to get the king pin into that. The fit is so tight that I manage to damage the bushing. The parts are cold from being in the garage. Does that have any affect?
Gene, seems you are experencing the problem that I try to warn all about, when wanting to upgrade to disk brakes. If you still have them, put the 76 I-beams back together, and change out the I-beams. Tis much easier, and everything is already matched.
If I had some of stockmans blinking lights I'd use them here, to warn all.
Most likely you have the wrong pin that you are trying to beat in the hole.
Hope you get it soon, and will be back on the street with your truck.

I have tried the king pins for the '69 as well as king pins for the the '76. My research tells me that they are the same diameter but are different lengths.
