leak

Well I took out the center piece inside the cab in hopes to be able to see the back side of the motor to find my dang oil leak, cant see a thing except the top of the transmission! I cant see crap from under neath either, but there is oil everywhere... I should get some pictures of the mess. I cant see anything on the top because of the turbo. Anyone have tips for me? other than removing the turbo?

Take off the intake hat and tube to the turbo, then use your wife/girlfreind pocket mirror to look behind the engine.

Give it a good bath first, then look, so you can tell where things are actually leaking. Chances are there are multiple leaks, of various sizes too, can be quite common on these things.

I am working on removing my turbo. Really unsure exactly how to take it off though.

If the leak is to bad I am just going to replace the motor with a 6.9 or another 7.3. I am sure all my blow by is what is causing the leaks..

Anyone have a motor for sale close to Cincinnati?

Not to sure if you will find one around here. I had a hard time finding a tranny for an IDI so I would think that an engine would be about the same. I think that there is a junk yrad down by corinth ky that might have it though. I will check on the phone number if you want.

It is called "mike's auto salvage" and the number is 859-823-2401. Hope they something for you. I plan to take a trip down there some time this soon myself to check the place out. I used to go to besselers in hebron ky but it is a little far for me now. I need to find someplace close.

That and they seem to pull all the good stuff now and want you to pay top dollar for it. Most of the diesels get the axles and all pulled so all we get are the bodies. Where abouts in cinci do you live? I work for the Verdin company down on what was eastern ave. now it's called riverside dr.. We do bells and clocks most every bell in cinci and a lot of the country are done buy us.
