Idle time spent productively

Pulled the intake manifold, and throttle body off the 5.0 yesterday.

I was looking for vacuum leaks, found that I hadn't put vacuum to the PCV so that helped. Routed all vacuum lines and replaced gaskets and re-installed intake.

Fired the beast and it ran smoother; still idled high , which I found to be my linkage being too short and doesn't allow throttle to relax to idle. Will have to redo throttle linkage in the spring, which I was going to do anyway.

May have coolant fluid leakage, which seems near the water pump.

My project for today, while our above zero temps last !

Tom,

Woohooo!!! any progress is good progress!

I've been too busy with other projects to spend much time with the truck lately

(and I guess I better quit whining about our 50+ degree days....LOL)

Fired up and ran the length of the driveway

Well I started the beast again today; no noticeable leaks on the coolant.

Actually pulled the truck in and out of the garage under its' own power !

Will take battery out again this weekend; for winter. Now working on window glass in vent frames; and side window and dividing posts.

More to come.

Later

Tom

I applaud your motivation and progress! As mild as our winters are here, compared to yours, it takes me a lot of self-motivation to go out to the garage at all. Once I get there, I'm fine. I can imagine what it's like up there! But the more work you do now means the sooner your truck will be ready to drive when it's nice out!

I spent the day in the garage just removing broken bolts from my dismantle. (7 years ago)
