Seatbelt Warning

OK, I have gone through the process in my manual literally 10 times. I have even asked 2 other people to try it to make sure I was not being an idiot and no luck... Anyone have any tricks for turning off the seatbelt sensor?

I used the procedure in the owners manual and it worked for me. It did take 2 times before I finally got it......

Page 116 of my owners manual has the following information:

One time disable

Any time the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an
ignition ON cycle, the BeltMinder will be disabled for that ignition
cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the BeltMinder feature

Read Steps 1 - 5 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The BeltMinder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the
following procedure:

Before following the procedure, make sure that:

•the parking brake is set
• the gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission)
•the ignition switch is in the OFF position
• all vehicle doors are closed
• the driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
•the parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt
Minder feature while driving the vehicle.
1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1
minute)
•Step 3 must be completed within 60 seconds after the safety belt
warning light turns off.
3. At a moderate speed, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times,
ending with the safety belt in the unbuckled state.
• After Step 3 is complete, the safety belt warning light will be turned
on for 3 seconds.
• If Step 4 does not occur within 10 seconds at the end of Step 3,
Beltminder will automatically exit programming mode without
changing its enable status.
4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle
then unbuckle the safety belt.
•This will disable the BeltMinder feature if it is currently enabled. As
confirmation, the safety belt warning light will flash 4 times per
second for 3 seconds.
•This will enable the BeltMinder feature if it is currently disabled. As
confirmation, the safety belt warning light will flash 4 times per
second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the light off, then
followed by the safety belt warning light flashing 4 times per second
for 3 seconds again.
5. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete

Yep, same procedures I have followed now over a dozen times... My Durango has a crazy dance you have to do to get their's disabled as well and I can follows those instructions to get it to work the first time... For some reason this procedure is not working on my truck...

Any other ideas? I even asked the dealership and they said can't do it for you...

Thanks,
Brian

i'm probably gonna get bashed for this like i did last time...........

UNPLUG THE DARN THING

- push tab
- pull plug apart

i've unplugged probably 10 of them so far. there is a plug under the drivers seat, hooked to the buckle (female end), the is just a few inches away from where it bolts to the floor. both of my trucks are unplugged (F250 / Excursion), i unplugged the one that were at work in the F450 and 550's.

the newest one that i've unplugged one on was an 06 F150. same location as the SD/Ex ect.....

What year is it.

I had a 2000 and now have an 03 EX. I think it was the last year you can do this. While it is chiming I hold the button down on the seat belt recepticle and the chime will stop. It won't come back on until I turn the truck off and restart. Also if I put my seat belt on and take it off later it won't chime. I do this when driving around our ranch. I want my belt minder to work if I am driving the streets.

I have a 2005 limited, and the instructions in the Manual worked great.

It also worked on my wife's explorer.

I find that the most obvious solution is the correct solution

Wear your seatbelt

ok seriously, here's what I do. hold the seatbelt release button down while you start your truck. or hold it down for the first minute. As long as you hold it down before your truck starts beeping.

I do wear my seatbelt - one accident with 5 full rolls will get you to do that !
(still haven't found my cell phone and glasses )

but did turn off my reminder on my 02, 03, and 05 Ex's
since I ALWAYS wear it unless moving it around the driveway...

IIRC , I did have a problem doing it too....

relax, read the instructions and don't 'assume' anything....

you're probably missing one small thing...
I think I either did something too fast or too slow the first 10 or so tries.... can't recall....

Thanks for the feedback all. Only concern I have about unplugging it is that the Service Manager at the dealership said unplugging it would disable the airbag... Anyone know if this is true?

I do wear my belt most of the time so that is not an issue, but I also do a lot of small trips around the corner and a lot of trailer hook ups and that is when it drives me nuts!

As long as the airbag will still work I will unplug it, otherwise I will be hitting the books again or trying the button method.

Thanks again

Ya that method only works on the older trucks. A friend has a 00 F250 and did the same thing. That method doesn't work on my Ex though. Curios about this plug business...does it disable air-bags? That wouldn't be good. Also, I imagine this disable procedure is good until the truck loses power, I imagine...?

This worked great in my 05... Thanks
