Another Idle Problem
Hi, i just bought this 1988 F 150 with a fuel injected 302. I have only one issue, the dang thing will idle at (guessing) 3000 RPM. Put the thing in gear and Engine drops to normal. I have checked alot of wiring and vacuum tubes but on the vacuum part im lost. The charcoal canister is not hooked up at all. i pluged the tube and didnt notice much of a change. Any suggestions???

This is weird!!!!
Just put the new idle air control valve on. Pluged it in, started the truck. NO difference at all. HOWEVER, for some reason i unpluged the idle air control valve and the engine immediatly droped to normal. Pluged it back in and it returned to the high RPM. Can anyone help. Thank you for the reply about the control valve.
