Just picked up an 04 F150 SCREW Lariat for my kid. When I lowered the drivers window all the way the window would not go back up. After pressing the dang button about 50 times I finally got the window to go back up. Tried the other windows, and the right rear window did exactly the same thing (all these operations were from divers seat, I should go test the individual switches as well). After reviewing this forum I found others that had the same problems and they replaced the pwr window switch (found it via FTE parts guy for ~$50). What I'd like to know is if this is the real problem or if the regulator (or something else) is causing the issue. Tips? Tricks? Advice?
In my case it was the switch. Able to lower the window fine but trying to put it back up required hitting the button multiple times before it reacted. Switch was replaced the other month and the problem is gone.
Don't need to (I'm sure they'll be higher $). Can't find the actual part number for the switch, but search for "fte parts guy". I actually found 2 different ways into their site. Once in, go to Door parts, then window switch. One way gave me $47, other gave me $56. Not sure about rules on posting the links, don't want to tick anyone off. Have not ordered via these, yet. I did use their site to negotiate prices at a repair shop, got the shop to match his prices.
Have same issue with my 07, the drivers window goes down every time but some times takes several attempts before it goes back up, had it checked out in December, no fault with switch so had the regulator replaced. I hadn't really used it till the other day & amazing it does the same thing again! I had checked it out when I collected it from service & all seemed OK then, surely the regulator can't have failed already!
Whilst on the window subject does anyone know if you can make the other windows "one touch down" by swapping to drivers type switch?
I lifted the following from Beerstalker's post in the F350 forum on the subject. "The auto down is built into the switch itself (if you push it a little further you feel a click and that sets off the auto down). However, the front driver and passenger window switches are built into one unit so you can't replace them seperately. Ford doesn't make a switch for our trucks that gives auto down on any other window, and no aftermarket companies do either."
OK thanks I kinda guessed that was the case, so that means you get all 4 switches in one unit then, I know the panel comes out easily as I popped the passenger side out after the plug fell off the lock switch! These things are made well aren't they!
Shovelheadrob, I did find the following post https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...ne-else-2.html in there you'll see a pic of the actual unit. Will attempt to follow those instructions and clean the contacts and see if that works.
Can't say for sure how they built these things (least not yet, just got the F150 bout a week ago), but on my 04 F350 I haven't had any issues with the interior, lots of problems/expense with front end components on that one.
