What should the dwell be at on a 352? Also at what rpm do you check it? Mine is showing 32 at 650 rpms (idle). Thanks in advance.

Generally, the rpm is set between 550 and 650 depending on model and transmission type. Dwell angle would be between 26 and 31 deg. Basic point gap starts at .017 inches. If you give specifics I'll try to pin down exact information for you.

If your points are used it can be difficult to get the correct gap on them due to irregular wear, pitting or mis-alignment. I usually set my points then test dwell just to see if their within range. Good luck.

To decrease the dwell angle you have to increase the gap; and vice versa. Just about all Ford V-8s require a 27 degree dwell. Better to be slightly on the low side since dwell tends to increase as the follower on the point set wears (and gap decreases).
