Has anyone swapped the gears in there truck before? If so, what kind of a jump should I expect. Im going from a 3.08 (i guess, theres 39 on the ring and 13 on the pinion) to a 3.70. Will it be noticable or just barely or nothing at all to the seat of the pants feel. Thanks.

tom, I don't know what engine you have, 3.08 usually means V8 & auto tranny. You will notice more power to the wheels, less gas milage, engine turning faster at 60mph.

It depends on what the torque curve of your motor is. If it's set to run in the 2500-3000 range you will "feel" more power. I have 3.73 gears with 33 inch tires and at 60 the motor is turning 2600 rpm. The 351 reaches its torque curve about there so it is a dog over 60 mph but runs really well up to it. The easiest way to try gear changes is to barrow larger tires and see what it "feels" like before you make the time and money investment in gears.

tom, you can't make a plow horse out of a riding horse just by taking his saddle off. You will notice a difference in the truck, but it wont be a dragster, if it's not one now.
