I have been told by friends that my truck is not blowing black smoke out of the exhaust so lately I have been looking and have not seen it either. Is this a problem and what would I do to correct the issue. I have about 155k on it and have had the edge evolution setr on race mode prior to this and used to notice a lil smoke so I recently set it back to stock mode and dont say any?
Thats what I've always thought but I've heard others talk and seen other trucks smoking and thought it was normal... then by hearing it from a friend that "used to be" a machanic I guess I started thinking it was true...I guess I'll just stick to my old self and argue with everybody when I know they are full of crap!!!lol. Thanks again
What happens when you accelerate hard, I would think if you accelerated hard enough some fuel would not combust and therefore there would be "some" black smoke, but if you have a clean and/or high flow air filter you would probably will have to look very closely. The only time my 2001 7.3L emits black smoke is when engine is very cold and/or a dirty air filter. My air filter is dirty right now! Truck is being serviced as I type this post and a new filter when I get it back.
