Just got the list of problems that need to be fixed on my truck. If my cousin, who is a service writer for ford, runs it through the dealership it will total close to 1000 $. So my first question is how hard of a repair is it to fix the oil cooler leak? It would cost 230$ for him to do it. I need to replace the #7 injector, I have a used one, the replacement costs me 180$. And then my up pipes are cross threaded??? (is that true? Can that happen) That's like 475$. Can I do the repairs on my own? Really the only experiance I have as a mechanic is oil changes, starters, rotors, minor stuff like that? Also where can I find up pipes? Thanks for your help!
The oil cooler can be a little difficult to get back together from what I hear. I believe the tricky part is getting the o-ring in there and pressing it back together. Sounds like you should be able to do this yourself though.
Replacing an injector is not that big of job either.. I'm not sure if the number 7 is on the driver or passenger side? In any case, it is doable. Make sure you remove the oil that falls into the cylinder though. Since you have the VC off it might not be a bad idea to do the GP's as well.
Now the uppipes could be an issue. The only thing that can be cross threaded is the bolts that connect the uppipes to the turbo inlet collector. I wouldn't think you are talking about the manifold collector ones? If they are cross threaded any unable to tighten you will probably have to get new ones.
The problem with those is that there is no room to work on them really. When I redid my turbo setup I had the turbo off enabling easy access.
Hope that helps.. I just got off work and probably not thinking to my full potential. LOL.
