I'm looking for a way to install rear disc brakes on my 89 bronco. I struck out at Stainless Steel Brakes and SVO.I'm thinking of changing the whole rear end.I did this with my 91 thunderbird 5.0 HO and what a differance!! What rear ends come with rear discs? What rear ends will accept the rear disc changeover? Any thoughts?
Wayne if you have a half ton, Lincoln rears should work. There has been discussion about this here and the concention is leave the drums on the rear of the trucks. You have better, smoother stopping.

What year lincoln? I can't seem to keep my rear brakes adjusted and I wind up with just fronts. I have had a number of fords and this seems to be a continuing problem with all of them. I acquired an 88 turbo coupe and the brakes were fantastic. I liked them so well that I bought a super coupe rear end for my "wife's" 91 thunderbird. The differance was amazing. I figured if I could find something for my bronco I would be able to stop that one too. Thanks for your response. Do you know what the ratios are in the Lincoln I need 3:55s to match up with the front end on the Bronco
Will my 8.8 guts fit in a 9" housing? Also do the lightnings have rear discs? I put on a lot of miles and am on my 2nd rear end. I nust have been asleep when we changed it and I failed to realize that the one we used did not have the traction-loc. The bearings are starting to get loud and I would look for a whole rear that would accept rear discs. Thanks
Wayne you might want to check on another board, there are two others here for your year truck, Big Bronco, and 80-96 trucks. I didn't at first notice your year date of 89, the rear on your model could be different from the pre 80s that we deal with here.
I have two 97 Taurus cars and one has 4 disks, and the other two. The car with the two stops smoother than the four. The anitlock on the four is nasty, I don't like it at all.
I hope that you can get it worked out.
