I went and looked at a 79 F-150 4x4 yesterday. Its pretty rough and am going to use it mainly as a wood hauler. The cab mounts are getting pretty transparent, so I'm not going to put alot into it. It came with another truck and some extra parts.
But the thing that bugged me the most is they had a wood dowel wedged between the transfer case handle and the cigarette lighter. He said thats its been that way for 20 years. Its got the transfer case in high and I was wondering why you think they did this? So you think it pops out of high?
I'm new to the site and have a BIG LOVE for the 78-79 year trucks. I plan on finding a cleaner one to make my daily driver and get rid of my 95 F-250, Super Cab,4x4, w/Power Stroke.
Any help would be appreciated. This is a great site.
I reread my post and edited it. I can't believe I didn't proof read it, I'm always on my daughter about that, with her home work.
I saw on another post that I had the pattern messed up for the transfer case. So its in high instead of low. I corrected that in my previous post.
Welcome to the site! ... That's the only reason I can imagine that wood being there.. May have to rebuild/replace. I'd take the wood out and try it through the positions, see what happens.
