Is there a unit out there that replaces the stock Navigation for the 2000 Navigator, would like to replace the monochrome screen and put in a upgraded unit if possible.

I have a cell phone from Verizon called the Droid that has GPS navigation and it talks to you. They also have a windshield mount fo it. I was going to buy a navigation system but this works so good I changed my mind. Go to a verizon store and check it out.
I am looking more along the lines of keeping it stock looking, Ive got a Navigator but it wont let me Navigate with the old system , it is outdated the road I live on isnt enen on it,
you could move to a road that is on the map, that might help but I believe panasonic makes a 2 din navigation system not sure how it works though
I have read somewhere that you need to get a later or updated CD for the Navigation system in order to stay current. That's why I prefer the Droid cell phone system, the screen is in color, it talks to you just like the latest systems(it's service is provided by googlemaps) and it is constantly updated at no additional cost or effort on the operator's part. Furthermore the OEM system requires that you look down at the console to see it, taking your eyes off the road and subjecting you to an unneeded hazard. It is a great tool with many more functions than most of us will ever use, communication, maps, tunes (like an iPod), games, weather and more, more, more. I still suggest that you look into it even though it is not an integral part of your Navigator, you can keep the OEM system intact even though it is an out dated and somewhat inconvienient system. Just like people with '60-70s cars keep 8 track tape players in their collector cars it's there for it's uniqueness and originality, not for functionality even if it does work. Whatever you do I'm sure it will be suitable for your needs, good luck with it.
