Yep, patience and quick action.
I looked for about 3 months in a couple hundred mile radius until I saw mine pop up one night only 30 miles away at a ford dealer. drove down that night and put down the deposit - could only see if from the outside since it hadn't been prepped yet. when we went back the next day the salesman told me they had a guy from Texas that wanted to pay $4K more to come up and get it.
I do see a few of them around the area, but not that common. The Chicago metro area seems to have a lot, or at least see lots passing through there.
Well - I hope diesel remains reasonable and doesn't spike...it should be less than $1/Gal IMO. &^)*^#)&$!!!! If it does spike, prices will follow suit.
I just bought a 02 Limited 4x4 with 150k miles for $12900 on Saturday. The interior is exceptionally clean, the driver seat is showing some wear. One just sold on Evil Bay (WV) for $16500 it had 100k miles but from the photos it was not a clean truck.

I almost bought an 03 7.3 4X4 EB. I had the paperwork finished and all I had to do was drive it home. It was 2 hours away and it was posted on a Saturday freshly traded in- no clean up. The pics looked good and it had 93,000 miles. I called Monday AM when they opened (they were closed Sunday), did the credit app and they held it until Tuesday. I drove 2 hours and was promptly met be the salesman and he told me he had a lady arrive the day before (Monday) offering more than advertised to take it home. But, since I did the credit app and told them I wanted it, he held it. He even had a call from someone in Oregon interested. The only problem was the pictures were very misleading. The carpet was shot (stained everywhere) and all leather seats but the third row were in really bad shape. The front bumper was also caved in some. I cant believe it but I gave him the keys and said no thanks. I will keep looking. Their asking price was $15,995. My V10 XLT is in better shape and they only offered me $6,000. I may succumb and pay a little more for a clean 6.0 and buy an extended warranty.
