I bought the aeroforce interceptor scangauge from terminator. It works on my 94.5 including the buzz test and CCT. I just cant get a reading for the EOT sensor, it just displays the previous sensors reading. The EOT must work cause it has denied to run the CCT test until i drove it alittle longer.
I have a coolant temp reading that ranges from 180-240 degrees even thou i cold started it at 10 degrees.
Ideas?
FYI there is NO coolant temp readings. It will be there on the gauge, but there is NO actual coolant temp inputs to the computer.
The scan gauge is way cool and works the same as any scan software on a laptop. The software does the same thing, has a spot pop-up for coolant temps but it's not accurate, I think it's just there for other applications that have the input to the computer.
Thanks jim for the info about the coolant temp reading. It is a cool gauge I just need to get the EOT reading to work.
Terminator guys says to try my gauge on another 7.3 to rule out or confirm a gauge issue.
Hows this for a stock truck ( I removed the 10k mod).
2600psi, 34% IPR duty cycle, 11psi boost. that was 4th gear up a 17% grade @ 2200rpms. Should i try that hill in 3rd gear? Or go out onto the highway?
I just got back from the aeroforce guys, it seems that my truck has a different PID for the EOT sensor versus the 96 and up trucks. They dont have any conversions that will work on the gauge so itll display the correct temp. I have to get some readings of cold IAT & EOT, then a warm EOT, then a hot EOT compared to an infrared reading at the sensor. They will then build a conversion for the gauge to read right.
Dzljim:
From what i got, the sensors info was in a different location than where the gauge was coded to look for it. They also emailed me to say they found a conversion for it so itll work out of the box now
Are you able to read all the rest of the datastream ok with it on your 94? Is it still the stock pcm in yours? I would really want one of these if it would work in my 94. I know my obd2 port won't work with anything else. It doesn't work with my OTC scanner or with an edge tuner I tried once.
RRanch: I am able to read everything the gauge claims it can for a powerstroke. I starting to believe my pcm was reflashed to a later year. MY pcm tag read BEG8 which is a 94 pcm. If your OTC scanner and edge tuner work in later PSDs and dont work on your truck then your prob still OBD1 so the gauge wont work.
Well that sucks. My scanner works fine on everything else. It better for the thousands of dollars I paid for it! I've been wanting to get mine reflashed but am scared to. It works perfect now. I just can't access anything through the dlc. I have to use my old eec-IV code flasher under the hood to do any diagnostics. I even had to get the breakout box out and blow the dust off once. I hate that thing!
I know I probably need to get a reflash done and just get that DP tuner thing. All I care about is my mileage staying at 20 or better like it is now when empty and having a high idle like it does now when cold.
I can still reach 20-21mpg on an empty highway trip and my truck is like yours. Call around to ford dealers for a pcm reflash, my dealers were quoteing $100 so itll be cheaper to go to DP Tuner.
If you get a DP tuner chip, itll override your pcm code so youll have OBD2 then.
What is your high idle rpm? mine goes to 900ish but my EBPV doesnt close cause my EBP sensor is stuck at 25psi.
Mine will high idle at 1100 when it's really cold out. The ebpv won't come on till after 60 seconds and I've already given it some throttle once. I just tap the pedal after it starts and it comes on. Usually the temp gauge is moving before I hit the end of my road so I really like it.
Not one Ford dealer around here can reflash the OBS computers anymore. Too stupid, under equipped and I wouldn't trust them if they did have the capability. Read some of my past posts about local dealers and you'll understand. I'll have to send it to DP tuners sometime. Definintly before next winter.
