wont start when engine warm

so i found a couple threads on this but nothing satisfying
2005 Ford Excursion eddie bauer model
6.0 diesel 60k miles
when i drive the truck then go say to the grocery store and come back within 10-30 minutes when engine still warm it will not start, i heard a bunch of stuff from engine being flooded to hpop gone bad. i also heard i can just just disconnect IPC valve the sensor and reconnect it and it may fix my problem.

first question is where is the IPC valve the sensor so i can see if its a easy fix

and second is anyone with this issue that fixed it? and what you did to fix it?

actually it sounds like you might have fuel pressure problem. those trucks were known for bad fuel pressure regulators.
and leaking HPOP "T" fittings. see if you have any oil leaks. and check if you can get anyone to test your fuel pressure .
monitoring ICP and IPR would help too.
can you get the truck to somone with the diesel specific scaner??
let us know.

My vote is poorly designed Snap to Connect fitting on the HPOP. MY '05 had the same symptoms and the remedy was new STC fitting kit that included the bracket....although now there is a new one piece design STC fitting.

you have a high pressure oil leak. suspect oil rail block offs, stand pipes or stc fitting as the cause.
the icp sensor is on the right valve cover. they almost never fail on 04.25 and up trucks.

I would fully agree with moyock. When the oil in the high pressure system is thick, it will hold pressure. The "snap coupler" on the back of the hpop will then leak when the oil get thinner. There is an updated coupler that will fix this. If this was my truck I wouldn't even go any further about diagnosis and take the turbo, intake and the hpop off and reseal the hpop. If you wanted to you could also remove the rocker arm covers and the oil rail and replace the stand pipes(the tubes that feed the oil rail from the hpop). You can just buy the orings for the stand pipes but after changing them you should let the new orings sit on the old stand pipes for about 24 hours to allow them to shrink back to size. I guess I went on and on about this....sorry, I would say the snap coupler is definately the issue. Do not let a shop tell you that the hpop needs replaced. I got my new coupler from ebay for about $35. A hpop is about $500. The hpop is a pretty tough peice of machinery, I would bet that 90% of the hpop replacements only needed the coupler.
