Hey I have an 89 7.3 and it just wont start good it is about 30 deg out and it wont start very good at all it apears to be getting fuel cause as soon as I start cranking it's puffing blue gray unburnt fuel out but once it's warmed up it fires right up.
here is the parts I have replaced on it within the last 6 weeks,Starter 2 bateries, glow plugs, injectors, injectore pump.injector line kit fuel filter lift pump, compression chcked at 385 to 400.Is there a way that the glow plugs are not heating it up enough? it apears to be somthing like that.
they should have fired at least once. I fired my autolites once good, then they were all eight dead. Same with bosch. Friggin sucka$$es. No where was a GP controller mentioned. What is the on off cycle like when first starting at cold temps. On for how many seconds then how many clicks for after glow? You should test the plugs first but also make sure all of the connections on the relay/glow plug controller are solid. Mine is an 89 as well, engine wise and it had a hard time starting a few weeks ago in mid 30's. Found out my glow plug lead connection with the two yellow wires was loose. i tightened and it was back to split second starting. Toss that info up for us and we can go from there.
