So far i've been searching craigslist and autotrader but have yet to really find what I want. Anyone know any other sources for finding used trucks?
I'm looking for a 1997 F350(for the solid axle, would settle on a 250) EXT Cab, longbed, PSD and 5spd. Obviously the more extras the better(toolbox, lift, tires, etc stuff I'd have to buy later).
Seems like 80% of the trucks here are crewcabs and/or automatics. I've seen endless amazing crewcabs but I just want an ext cab(might settle for reg cab).
Is there anything else I can do besides keep scanning craigslist?
Have you checked cars.com ? Your local newspapers online ads? Also try sites like KBB and NADA. When you look up the value of the truck, it will often have a link to "find this vehicle" and direct you to for sale ads.
Another option is to expand your search area. If you find a truck you're interested in, see if there's a fellow FTE member in that area willing to check it out for you before you make a trip. That's how I got my wife's truck.
I've tried all of those and get next to nothing. So far have had the most hits on craigslist. I'm in Washington and I've been searching here, all of Oregon, Idaho and parts of Montana.
So far I've had the best luck on WA craigslist but still haven't found just the right one yet.
wow it looks like there are more of use looking for trucks than there are trucks. I'm looking for a 1997 f250 crew cab short bed 6spd 4x4 7.3d but cant find anything lol
I live in over price land been seeing them in the rang of 13-18k.
you guys may be kinda hard pressed to find those exact rigs. I don't think they made any 80-97 f350 with an extended cab, only F250. They were either 4 door or standard cab, and they never made any 80-97 F250 with the solid axle.
You will also not find a 6 speed until 99 either.
Dont quote me on that, but thats just what i have noticed.
I believe you could get a 97 4 door in the f250 though. Still not solid axle i dont think.
well depending on how you look at it L 1-4 then o/d would be 6 forward speeds. But I understand that some have to physically see the lil numbers 1,2,3,4,5,6 for it to be a 6 speed but opinions are opinions and mine is that L, 1-4 o/d or 1-6 there both 6 forward gears i.e 6speed.

That must be in a 99+ truck then. I have never seen a 6 forward geared 80-97 truck.
Unless maybe a few 97's were specially ordered with the 6 speed. If that's possible.
its a local classifieds site around utah/idaho/nevada. it might be a bit of a drive for ya but i browse there daily, there's a few nice trucks you might not have seen on craigslist. Unfortunately im not back in the states yet otherwise one in particular would be sold.
