where is this bleeder screw that you are talking about? i thought the sleave cylinder was located within the trans. bellhousing and that i must take it off???
It is located in the transmission housing. Accessible from the driver side. If you can't find it, try following the line down from your master cylinder. On my '88 it takes a 3/8" wrench to loosen I think, could be 7/16".
You don't have to take anything off. Just loosen the bleeder fitting.
ok just crawled underneath the truck in sub zero temps with snow all over the ground...that was fun. at first i had trouble finding this bleeder fitting you were talking about so i removed that rubber inspection plug, and there was fluid all over my clutch slave cylinder from what i could see and it was leaking out of that check plug. then i found the bleeder port that you were talking about. should i even worry about trying to bleed it right now or just wait untill i replace the slave since all of that fluid was all over the place?
Unless you can see the hydraulic line leaking somewhere before it goes into the slave cylinder, it sounds like you have a clutch and slave cylinder replacement job ahead of you.
damn. well i just went out and bled the system and the pedal actually comes back up now so im letting the truck warm up and then ill see how it does. either way with the way there was fluid all over the place in there i will be doing the slave, and mite as well do the clutch and rear main while im in there. this is one heck of a way to start out the new year....

Well, if your master cylinder was just a little low when you checked it today, you may be able to bleed it and add a little fluid from time to time and get by with it for quite a while. It would be your call, myself I would try bleeding it.
just bled it and drove it around the block, and the best way to describe it is that it just doesnt feel rite. i have to push the clutch pedal down much farther than before all this ordeal, to even get it to engage. i will be able to drive it to my buddy's heated garage i believe to work on it so im not hangin out in the cold. but as otto said it looks like i will be replacing a slave and a clutch, most likely next weekend, or possible thurs. nite..... any tips fellas?

tranny jack would have been nice the couple times i've taken the transmission out of this year truck.
an extra set of hands is nice too for getting things lined up. (tranny, crossmember, etc)
make sure you actually need to replace the clutch and that the slave just didn't go bad by itself.
be careful with the bolts on the bellhousing. i bought a used tranny with one broken off and i broke one off in the bad tranny, i'd hate to see you add many hours to this job with a broken bolt.
well the clutch may very well not need to be replaced but i will buy the part and have it with me so when i take everything apart, if i need to i can and if i dont then i wont, and just return the part and get a refund. i will have a second set of hands which will be nice. the slave is what everything is pointing towards especially since i crawled under it and pulled that rubber inspection plug in the bellhousing, and the slave when i shined a light in could clearly be seen covered in my brake fluid.
i have the same problem with my 94 250 its the slave and master together, i havent figurfed out of to change it though
shoot me a pm when u get it dont ive never really messes with the tranny on my truck ive only had it 3 months n i knew it need a slave when i bought it....... io have parts just no knowhow how todo it
just got done with it....with the help of a buddy we got the slave, rear main, and clutch kit installed...started at bout 9am and fired her up and took it for a test drive at 12:30. it wasnt that bad other than the fact that it weighed a **** ton with that transfer case attached. glad im dont with it though.
heres some pics of everything as i was doing it.... now i just need to replace that seat at the base of the shifter and clean it up and it will be 100%. oh and sorry for the pic quality and size...cell phone shots.
