OK, so I've finally ben getting under my truck a little lately and another one of the things I find is that I have a damaged left rear brake caliper. I want to put new rotors all around after inspecting and seeing the original OEM's on my late '99 all fairly skinny. I have checked the price of new replacement calipers and they are fairly pricey, I think I'd rather buy the rotors and try to find a used caliper to replace my damaged one, at least for now.
Anybody have one laying around by any chance?
Cheers,
That is a terrible idea! I am serious, but not trying to be a dick. I got my rebuilt calipers from NAPA for about $75 bucks. When my LR went out and took out the pads and rotors it cost me A LOT more than $75 bucks. You should really just spend the money and do it right.
From what I have read a lot of guys have had problems with calipers taking a dump around 100k. Mine lasted until 115. As for me, I will be putting new ones on every other brake job. The rotors and pads are too expensive not to.
