These trucks are meant mainly for work and HIDs seem out of place on trucks like these. They are sometimes an expensive option for manufacturers to offer, so if it is offered somewhere, it's as an Aftermarket Dealer Installed Option.

I know, that why I have some on my truck!

While it would be nice to have them as an option, it's better for the consumer and Ford to not offer them as an option. It's just something better left to the aftermarket world. Though they are better in the long run, not everybody wants them. Bulbs can be expensive even off of ebay, just imagine what a Ford dealer would charge for one new HID bulb!

Great points. I do wish they would offer better lighting from the factory though. That's the first thing I had to upgrade when I bought my truck. The factory bulbs were terrible.

HID lights would be really nice addition even for work trucks. What if your job has you out late at night in the country side?

We have a car with xenon headlights and they make so much more light than the SD.....

Yeah, I had to drive the in-laws' Buick Enclave last night and it's got the HIDs.....huge difference in lighting.

work truck or not, I'm having a hard time seeing at night. Or my eyesight is showing signs of my age :-(

I swapped out my stock headlights and fog bulbs with Sylvania silverstars on both my F150 and SD. Somewhat noticeably better due it being whiter, but not necessarily much brighter. My F150 seems brighter than the SD or maybe because it doesn't have our upside down lights so it beams out farther from a higher angle? The headlights on my F150 are at least 6-7 higher up.

You guys have strong recommendations for any specific HID setup?
