OT - Drying your boots

I got a big WTF lately.

I cannot get the inside of my boots dry.

My normal tricks are not working. and its starting to become annoying.
Gonna have to put them in the smoke house or something! hahaha.

I been leaving them on the register vent all night to dry. I guess i'ma switch vents so its just blowing into the shoe *shrugs*

I hate having wet feet.
All the snow and the critters gets the leather soaked. Then it eventually makes it inside.

Maybe i'll just go get a set of arcadia's and be done with it.

Anyone got some good boot drying tricks to share?

I was thknking about making one of them from some PVC and a hair dryer. hehe.

How long you think it take to dry em out good? Are they noisy?

only reason i ask about tricks other then that though is. well. When we are out and about. sometimes we need to dry our shoes and dont ahve something like that around.

You cannot hear it when it is on. I think it is just a electric resistance coil w/no blower motor all, just rising heat. It is a very low temperature coil. I can't think of a "household" coil you could replace it with. Normally dries out good over night (maybe 10 hours for VERY wet boots)

Take the liners out? I do religiously put them near the register and the boot by the register as well they are always dry by morning my old boots had felt liners and they seemed to hold lots of moister my new boots have thins-elate and foam liners they dry quick and do not hold the moisture as much

Yea. I have been taking the liners out.

Once i get them dried up really good inside I can seal the outsides again as well.

Stuff them with paper towels. It will help a lot. You will have to do it more than once. Best thing to do is get boots that wont let water in. I found the only ones that will are the ones with a gortex lining. I have a pair of Wolverine Dura shocks that have gortex and no matter how much water I stand in my feet stay dry. They will start to leak eventually so I only where the new ones when it is wet outside. Otherwise I just where the old ones.

Gore-tex for the win! I love this stuff, all my winter wear is gore-tex because i never know when im going to be under a piece of equiptment in the snow. I dont own any winter boots, I just wear my Chippewa steel toe work boots that are 400g thinsulate and gore-tex lined and with a nice pair of socks my feet never get cold and never get wet. My last pair of boots were Rocky's and they were gore-tex lined and i had them for 3.5 years and they staid dry up to the time i got rid of them.

Rockies used to be really good boots.

I might just get a set of arcadia's then.
I dont really like goretex look, and I'd rather have brown, but I guess i'll go for the black and just wear these Irish Setters as my **** kickers.
