Timing cover

So, I know the 240 is basically the same as the 300, different head and stroked to become a 300. Is the timing gear cover the same though? I found a 300 efi in the junkyard around here and was thinking about pulling it off if it's the same, so from an early 240, to an efi 300 (not sure when the switch to EFI was, but the truck is an '80s)

It's a big jump in time and I don't know if they swap or not,but if it were me,I would look to see if the crank seal o.d. and gaskets are the same. It's just a casting,if they changed something,it would take a different gasket or seal, and maybe there is only a change in the damper size and the seal o.d. is still the same, who knows, but if you can't find anyone who knows for sure, you may have to get the calipers out and do some checking.Someone on here must know,I can't believe that some of the old timers on here haven't run into this.Did you do a search? You may find an old post on it.Sorry that I can't help you,but I'm not going to say,if I don't know. That's the worst kind of help.
